Sydney has a great friend at school, Haley. Haley is in Sydney's kindergarten class and Haley's mom is the teacher of the other kindergarten class next door. This makes it kinda handy for finding out what is going on at school and the story behind, the story if you know what I mean. Today was one of those days that I had to take advantage of the situation, call Haley's mom and get "the story."
For the last couple weeks Sydney keeps coming home and talking about the breakfast at school. She has mentioned it a couple of times but I guess with all of the other things going on around here I just kinda filed it somewhere in my brain. Yesterday she started complaining about how the bus is late and she is getting to school later than normal. Today she was downright frustrated about it, I asked her why and she said because when I get to the "free" breakfast line we are so late that all the chocolate milk is gone. Of course this peaked my interest because nothing is free and so I asked, what do you mean it is free? She said, "yes mom it is free, Haley showed me how to get it, you just go and get in line and get the free breakfast but the bus has been so late that I haven't been able to get it and when I do get there the chocolate milk is gone. " So I pressed a little further and said, "so you just go and get in line and they give you food? Is anyone else in line or are you and Haley sneaking into the cafeteria and getting things?" She said, "no mom, lots of people are in line and you just have to tell them your last name and they give it to you for free!"
OK, now it is making a little more sense to me, the "free" breakfast is apparently a "charged" breakfast, and I will soon be getting a bill. I guess we will need to have a little talk about the no free lunch and hopefully she hasn't wracked up too many charges with the "free" stuff!
