Finally, Sydney had her first day of school. I guess we are a little late at starting around here. We had round-up on the 2nd and orientation on the 4th and then they had a soft start for the first day which meant that half of the class started yesterday and half of them started today.
During breakfast this morning she decided she wanted to color Mrs. Andersen a picture and give it to her. And they each have to take a water bottle to class with them to drink out of, so that is what she is carrying, not coffee. She picked out that coffee cup last weekend when we went to the Trees of Mystery. (I will post about that later.) The cup has a picture of Paul Bunyon and Babe on it.
I can't believe we have a kindergartner in our house, she is excited to ride the bus, I however am a little nervous about the whole thing, I guess I will get over it. I took her to school this morning to make sure she understood the whole routine about where she gets dropped off and how to get to the school from there. When it was time to cross the bridge I reached out for her hand and she said, "MOM, I am a kindergartner now, I don't need to hold your hand." But by the time we got to class she had reached out for my hand and was a little nervous about me leaving her there. I think she will be fine though, there were actually 4 other girls in her class, but it is mostly boys again. Her class is about two-thirds boys and one-third girls. I guess the every kindergarten class is that way this year.
