I guess Rikki sums up how our Christmas Eve was, thumbs up! The girls were so much fun last night helping everyone open presents and tearing into their own. Sydney summed it up also on the way home last night when she said, "Mom, We are really loved, aren't we."
The gingerbread house, has become a tradition at Christmas. Usually sitting on the table is not something we approve of but in order for everyone to get the best shot at decorating, Rikki figured this was the best spot. Not really sure how much decorating got done, mostly it is an eating candy tradtion and our house is now a bit bare, the gingerbread house that is. Merry Christmas everyone.
Not really sure who was the first monkey...maybe Nam showed them how to do this when she was babysitting. Nam took the picture and I have never seen them do this before or since. I have never actually seen Nam do this move either, but where else would they have learned it?
I know, I have posted this photo before when Sydney lost her very first tooth. I just need to file this in the strange but true category. Sydney has now lost 3 teeth, all bottom front. The strange part is the first one she lost on Fourth of July, the second she lost on Labor Day, and the third she lost on Halloween. We made it through Thankgiving and we still have no loose teeth so we may even make it through Christmas.
These belt buckles were my grandfathers, Rikki and Alex, and Sydney's Great Grandpa Everett Gibson. When things were getting passed down after my grandparents died, my sister got the actual belt buckle that our grandpa wore every day. It looks almost identical to the one on the right, Rikki is wearing, with the steer head only it is a little larger and has rubies for eyes.
I can't exactly remember how Steve and I ended up with these, I think Grandpa gave Steve the one with the pheasant and me the one with the steer head long before he died. I have had them for quite awhile and now I know exactly why I got these. They are perfect for Rikki and Alex, who knew we would have twins and they would be perfect for them.
Sydney wore one of them for awhile when she was little but then Aunt Moose won a buckle and gave it to her so she has always worn it since. Rikki and Alex wear them quite a bit and they fit perfectly on them.
The belts are actually Aunt Marti's first attempt at leather work, pretty good and the belts are just starting to fit them really well. (Nam taught her everything she knows.) They are such little shavers it has taken some time to grow into them.
There little "cowgirl" shirts were made by their Grandma Joyce. She makes all of her husbands shirts and had scraps left over so she made one for each of the girls. (Grandma Joyce, or JJ as the girls call her, is actually a very close friend of our family.) They absolutely love to dress up as cowgirls, and they apparently love each other, at least on this day. (Thanks mom for catching these cute shots, I love them and since I was working would have missed this.)
I have been really bad about posting lately, sorry, but I have been having a lot of trouble with the typepad site. I keeps freezing up on me, and now I have a broken camera. I took some pictures for a friend last Sunday and then the camera just stopped. I took it into the shop and they said it will be 4-6 weeks before I get it back, I am just hoping that we can get it back before Christmas. I have a few pictures on my photo card that I can still post about then I will have to start using the old camera again.
The girls have been playing really well together lately, Sydney has been reading to them a bunch. Even though she can't read, they don't care if it is a made up version of the story, as long as big sis is paying attention to them in a good way. These are actually some pictues that my mom took while she was babysitting recently. The picture with Sydney in the tent has Alex in the middle, boy do they love tents. And in the other two pictures, Alex is on the left. Alex seems to be the one lately that wants to show affection to Rikki but most of the time Rikki would rather she didn't, that is a rare moment when she was okay with Alex touching her.
