Steve decided to harrow the field this weekend since things have finally dried up a bit and we had such great weather. He started on Saturday and Sydney rode with him for 3 hours. Steve had to work all day Sunday so he had to finish it up on Monday, about 3 more hours. Sydney rode with him the whole time, fell asleep briefly, and had the best time. She later told me that her favorite day of the week is Saturday because no one has to work and she gets to spend the day with her dad. Before long she will be out there by herself doing it.
Today was another beautiful day. Sydney spent the morning harrowing the field with Steve and then we went up to C2 and went fishing. The girls all had a blast and it was great for everyone to get outside. Steve caught two big trout and let Sydney reel one in, but she definatly didn't want to touch it. Rikki and Alex just spent the afternoon playing in the dirt and wondering what daddy and Sydney were doing. They were a little wild and spunky, I think it may be safe to say that we are on the mend now. (In the picture of Rikki you can see the remnants of kitty whiskers. She was acting like a kitty and so Sydney painted a kitty nose and whiskers on her.)
By late morning the girls started feeling better and I wanted to get them out of our house so we went to the park, (and I forgot the camera.) It has been a beautiful weekend and it has been around 60 degrees, perfect for a late afternoon bike ride. We went out around 5pm and the lighting out there was so beautiful for taking pictures. I never take pictures of the mountain, I guess I don't really even notice it half the time. Sandy always takes a ton when she is here so I thought I would give it a shot too. It really looked beautiful with the sun on it, so this one is for you MeMaw!
I thought the sickness was all over last weekend, I thought wrong. Alex threw up for what I thought was the last time last Saturday night. She was a little sluggish most of the week and didn't really eat all that much but her spirits were up and she was acting like she was on the mend at least.
That is until Friday morning, when I went to get her out of bed she, and the crib, were covered in disgust. Took me awhile to get everything cleaned up. Thank goodness I had scheduled for the babysitter, Kelsey, to come or I'm really not sure what I would have done.
Alex was pretty sluggish all day Friday and Saturday, Rikki was fine. . .until this morning. Sydney came in as I was getting out of the shower and said, "Rikki has spilled chocolate milk all over her crib." I said, "Rikki dosen't have chocolate milk in her sippy it is water.?!" I went to check for myself and it definatly wasn't chocolate milk. So I have been doing laundy again and re-washing all of the crib bedding. Then we went to Wal-Mart and got some Immodium for infants. Hopefully that will do the trick and we will be over this soon, like today! I am so ready for healthy kids.
Well, we are finally over this sick thing. I am not really sure where all that came from but I have a pretty good guess. Gavin spent the night last weekend and Saturday morning when he woke up he curled up on my couch and said, "I don't feel so good." So I took him home and he was definatly sick. He missed the whole week of school last week. (Just a side note, that is Gavin in a pink princess gown, he, hee. Steve asked him, "Gavin, would you like to wear the jammies that you brought or Sydney's pink princess nighty?" To Steve's surprise and delight, he said, "Oh, the pink princess nighty!" So, Steve, snickering, said, "Gavin could I get a picture of you to show your dad?" (Who was out of town at the time) Gavin said yes and then gave us the best little girl poses that Steve could have ever hoped for to send to Todd. (That is him showing a little leg, the best one of him clasping his hands was only caught on the cell phone and of course sent to Todd and all of his macho buddies. Too funny.) Of course Todd calls and Says, "What are you guys doing to my little boy? And we say, "Nothing that he didn't want to do himself." No pressure here ;)) Anyway. . . .
Wednesday morning Rikki and Alex came down with it, puking, and Alex finally stopped on Saturday night. Rikki faired a little better in that department but when I took the girls into the doctor on Friday, she came out with another ear infection! Sydney seemed fine and we met one of her friends on Friday evening for a playdate. Saturday morning she woke me up because she had gotten sick in her bed, about 7am. She then got sick every 15-30 minutes until about 3pm, then I started. My mom came down with it on Saturday night. (Thanks mom for all the help with sick babies just sorry you had to pay the consequences!) Steve was sick last week but only with a severe cold. It is now Monday and I am feeling almost 100%. Wheeew, hopefully we won't see another week like that for a very long time!
Yesterday morning Rikki and Alex woke up with my mom here to babysit and both weren't feeling very well. I ended up coming home early from work and found them bouncing off the walls and having a grand ol time, so I went back to work. They were still sleeping when I got home. As soon as they woke up, around 5pm, they started screaming and just before Steve got home from work, Rikki puked all over me. So Steve walked in the door and immediatly had to deal with it. From then on it was a contest between the two of them to see who could throw up the most. Not really sure who won that one, but I am sure who won the best darn four year old contest for the evening! Sydney was our little saviour! She was bringing Steve and I bowls, towels, wipes and was even our runner back and forth to the bathroom emptying and cleaning out our bowls! I couldn't believe what a little trooper she was and we aren't quite sure what we would have done without her! Thanks Sydney. The girls, especially Rikki, are feeling better today. Alex is still pretty groggy and even got sick once today, but I think the worst is over, hopefully. Steve had the girls in their chairs today watching the new Aristocats movie and the two of them passed out. They looked so peaceful and they never fall asleep anywhere but in their beds so it was a treat watching them sleep. One good thing about them being sick is all the snuggling that they want, that dosen't happen very often. Just wish they didn't have to be sick to get it!
Rikki and Alex are hard at work helping dad pick out the right bulls to breed our cows to. Usually that is excusively Steve's area, but this year he has a little help ;) Sydney has had her say also, any bull with white on it will do. All of our cows are just black, one grey one, and she is just dying to mix it up a bit. We try and A.I. all of our cows so we have many options for bulls and many magazines for researching the subject. The girls can't help but pick up a cow magazine, I think it may be part of Steve's secret gradn plan to get the girls interested in his primary interest!
When Sandy was here visiting, we decided to take on a huge project. I really didn't think it was going to be all that big, but I am still working on it. I decided to give Sydney the big bedroom that was my office/scrapbookroom/guestroom. The twins are moving into Sydney's old room and I am moving my office into the twins' old room. Only problem is that Sydney got a lot of things for her room for Christmas and is anxious to move in, and Rikki and Alex are not ready for their big girl beds yet. So for now my office is in a bit of limbo. I am also feeling a bit of guilt for giving Sydney the big room and Alex and Rikki the smaller room. My theory was that Sydney's room could still be used as a guest room when Sandy or anyone else came to stay. (She has a normal size bed and a bathroom attached.) Right now she has so much more stuff and we got Rikki and Alex bunk beds so eventually they will have more room. Sydney's room turned out pretty cute. We painted the walls and put up the wainscotting. (That was quite a job, we used the individual boards and not the paneling to create it so it took quite a bit longer and we had to primer and paint it first.) The color of the room was a big decision because the color had to come out of the bedspread and the other choices were pink, lavender, yellow and green. Hopefully we made the right choice but it is only paint and I still need to get the bathroom painted, it is going to be yellow. Maybe I will do that today.
